FORT WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Elevate Credit, Inc. (“Elevate”), a leading tech-enabled provider of innovative and responsible online credit solutions for non-prime consumers, today announced it is donating 100 KHS Free Agent bikes to local schoolchildren to celebrate its pro cycling team’s successes, including podium (top three) stage finishes this month at the Tour of Utah and the Colorado Classic, both of which are major achievements for the second-year pro team.
“We couldn’t be prouder of our team, especially given the other world-class cyclists participating in these events,” said Ken Rees, CEO of Elevate. “We are also proud of our participation in a sport that promotes health, teamwork and self-reliance, which are all important to underprivileged youth. Our mission as a company is to help people become self-reliant financially, and we are also very focused as a company on health and teamwork.”
The Elevate KHS Pro Cycling Team – in only its second year in the professional ranks – finished the highly regarded Tour of Utah cycling event with a 5th team general classification, one second place stage finish (Alfredo Rodriguez), one third place stage finish (James Piccoli), a 10th general classification (Piccoli) and one fan favorite climber’s jersey (Piccoli). At the Colorado Classic, the team scored one third place stage finish (Rodriguez), beating out – among others – 2017 Tour de France runner up Rigoberto Uran. Given its performance, the team has now been invited to the prestigious Tour of Alberta in September.
The KHS bike giveaway comes in conjunction with Elevate’s sponsorship of the Tarrant Area Food Bank’s Gear Up to End Hunger ride on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in Fort Worth. The Food Bank will distribute bikes through its local network. The giveaway is also inspired by Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price’s “Bike FW” and “Fit Worth” campaigns, which promote biking as a way to improve health in the community. Price’s Bike FW plan hopes to triple bicycle commuting, decrease bicyclist related crashes and attain for Fort Worth designation as a Bicycle Friendly Community through the League of American Bicyclists. Fit Worth is aimed at improving childhood health in the community.
Elevate’s focus on health includes offering free healthy breakfast for all employees daily, subsidized healthy lunches, and a voucher for each employee to purchase a bicycle (up to $500). Elevate has supported the Tarrant Area Food Bank since the company’s creation in 2014. It has also sponsored local amateur men’s and women’s cycling teams since 2014.
