SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Inc. magazine today ranked Gametime No. 3 on its 36th annual Inc. 5000, a ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. The new issue also revealed the company to be the fastest growing consumer-focused brand. The list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment — independent small and midsized businesses. Companies such as Microsoft, Dell, Pandora, LinkedIn, Yelp, and Zillow all gained their first national exposure as honorees of the Inc. 5000.
"Gametime is excited to rank as the fastest-growing consumer company in America on the Inc. 5000 list. This achievement is a testament to the tireless dedication of our team and the loyalty of our fans," said Brad Griffith, Founder and CEO, Gametime. "We’re confident we can achieve our mission to unite the world through shared experiences. The world needs it now more than ever."
Gametime was founded in late 2012 after CEO Brad Griffith nearly missed a San Francisco Giants National League Championship Series game when using a ticketing app to make a last minute ticket purchase. The process then still required the printing of a physical ticket, leaving Griffith scrambling to find a printer and a realization of a gaping hole in the market.
After writing the first version of the Gametime app later that year, the company began selling mobile enabled tickets for the 2013 San Francisco Giants season. The app caught on while appealing to a new generation of on demand fans. Gametime reimagined the fan experience for the mobile platform - eliminating the need for printing, providing panoramic high-resolution in game photos and launching two-tap checkout with curated inventory offering only the best values in every section.
After Gametime’s launch in San Francisco, the company scaled across the U.S. and Canada and today services 60 markets across North America. Live music events were added in late 2015 followed by theater events in 2016. The Gametime user experience spread across sports, music and theater and has propelled the company to its staggering early growth, delivering millions of tickets to last-minute fans in seconds. Fans were invited to sell their tickets at the last minute using the patent-pending Snap & Sell feature introduced in 2016.
Momentum has continued in 2017 as Gametime was recognized by the Sports Business Awards and Appy Awards as having the best in class mobile event experience for fans. The company has forged new partnerships with industry leader Ticketmaster as well as SeatGeek and AXS to continue to expand the avenues through which fans can find tickets at the last minute. Gametime has also continued to innovate, launching the Fan Views feature to offer even deeper insight to seat selection.
Gametime has taken leadership of the “experience economy” as the millennial generation invests in their social activities rather than hard goods. In doing so, a paradigm shift is underway within the live event industry as a migration toward the last minute purchase window (7 days or less to event) takes hold. Driven by the younger, more spontaneous and value-oriented consumer, today's millennial fan wants to make their buying decisions on demand. Live entertainment has evolved from an activity planned weeks ahead via phone or email to something planned just hours ahead via text. Gametime has accelerated and facilitated this trend by creating the easiest and fastest buying process possible on mobile.
