PuppySpot.com Launches Revolutionary Rehoming Program for Retired Breeding Dogs

Puppy Placement Service to Assist Older Purebred and Designer Dogs to Find Forever Homes

LOS ANGELES--()--PuppySpot.com, the nation’s most trusted service for connecting dog lovers with responsible breeders, today announced a program to assist in the rehoming of older adult dogs who no longer breed or rear puppies. As a company founded on a pro-dog mission to support the humane treatment of all dogs, PuppySpot will leverage its proprietary platform to work with responsible breeders and dog lovers to give retired breeding dogs the chance to be placed in forever, loving homes, just like the more than 100,000 puppies PuppySpot has already placed.

PuppySpot’s nationwide rehoming program will serve three core purposes: offering families looking for an adult dog the unique opportunity to adopt a registered purebred or hybrid breed, giving responsible breeders the benefit of finding a happy home for their retired breeding dogs in addition to their puppies, and lastly, providing retired breeding dogs the prospect of living out their adult years in loving, happy homes.

The adult dogs, all previously bred, are spayed or neutered, socialized with other dogs and people, and have lived happy lives with responsible breeders. PuppySpot’s breeder partners raise their dogs in accordance with PuppySpot’s industry-leading standards, focusing on the health of the dogs as well as the long-term health of the breed. Participating breeder partners are required to take all dogs to a licensed veterinarian for a comprehensive health check and provide medical records to the customer in advance of placement. In addition, all dogs placed through the program will come complete with an AKC Registration or AKC Canine Partners listing, lifetime enrollment in AKC’s national lost dog recovery service AKC Reunite, lifetime access to AKC events, and an e-subscription to AKC Family Dog magazine. As it does with puppies, PuppySpot will coordinate all documentation, as well as travel arrangements, to ensure it furthers its mission of making lives better by placing healthy dogs into happy homes.

“We are thrilled about the opportunity to help dog lovers whose lifestyles make an adult dog a better fit for their families, just as we are about assisting our incredible breeders with finding forever homes for their well-loved adult dogs,” said Greg Liberman, Chief Executive Officer at PuppySpot. “And, most importantly, we are excited to be able to provide a new option for these dogs to find forever homes with loving families. Given our proprietary platform and longstanding relationships with breeders, we find ourselves in a unique position to provide a first-of-its kind service that aligns perfectly with our values as a company.”

PuppySpot’s network consists of an elite national group of responsible breeders who have completed an extensive breeder screening process. In 2016, PuppySpot accepted less than 10 percent of the breeder partners who entered its review process. Beyond breeder screening and vetting, the PuppySpot process also mandates customer screenings, which allow PuppySpot to do its best to ensure all dogs are going to capable, loving homes that are good fits for each individual dog. Because retired breeding dogs will have existing habits, PuppySpot’s transparent process will also ensure that every prospective dog owner fully understands the dog’s temperament and previous living environment prior to placement.

“Every day, for over 20 years, I get to love, care and raise puppies and dogs to be healthy and happy, which is a job I do with great pride,” said Pat Self, a PuppySpot breeder partner and participant in the program. “Because PuppySpot shares my value of integrity in working with all animals, I trust them above anyone else to make sure all of my dogs, puppy or adult, go to the best possible homes.”
