SHREVEPORT, La.--()--AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana opened the doors to its new Shreveport Community Wellness Center with the help of Governor John Bel Edwards, AmeriHealth Caritas Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Paul A. Tufano, and a host of local elected officials, legislators and business representatives from the greater Shreveport-Bossier area.

The Community Wellness Center, located at 3709 Jewella Avenue in the Westwood Shopping Center, is the first of its kind in the area, providing Shreveport-Bossier residents with access to important health and wellness resources. The center will provide AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana members with benefit information, care management, and provider relations services including assistance with appointment scheduling and transportation. The center will also be available to community partners across the region to host cooking demonstrations, health and wellness activities, and public events.

"Improving health outcomes for Louisiana's citizens has been one of my administration's leading priorities,” said Gov. Edwards. “Expanding Medicaid to more than 430,000 of Louisiana's working poor was a critical starting point, but it is not the finish line. This Community Wellness Center will provide Shreveport families with the tools necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle and teach children to adopt healthy habits early in life. I want to thank AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana for opening this beautiful facility and sharing my vision for a healthy Louisiana."

AmeriHealth Caritas is proud to invest in Shreveport and in communities across the state of Louisiana,” said Mr. Tufano. “We believe in meeting people where they are by providing quality health care support services to communities where our members live and raise their families. The Community Wellness Center will offer a diverse range of services that empower our members and the people of Shreveport to live healthier lives.”

I encourage the whole community to come visit us at the wellness center and find out how to get involved with our programming,” said Audrey Flournoy, Coordinator of Community Programming for AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana. “We are excited to work with our friends and neighbors in the community to fill the calendar with fun and informative activities that build a healthier Shreveport.”

The center will be open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and the first Saturday of each month, and can be reached at 318-631-6075.
