Counsyl Unveils Updated Names for its Portfolio of Genetic Testing Products and Services

Newly optimized names emphasize the benefits for clinicians and their patients

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--()--Counsyl, a DNA testing and genetic counseling company committed to helping women’s health providers and their patients improve the quality of important health decisions, today unveiled new names for its products and services. Counsyl has screened more than 750,000 patients and served more than 10,000 healthcare professionals. All tests are processed in our highly-automated CLIA-certified laboratory in South San Francisco. The refreshed product and service names further emphasize the benefits of Counsyl’s portfolio to healthcare providers and their patients, from screening for genetic conditions to inherited cancers.

Counsyl’s full suite of products and services includes:

  • Counsyl Foresight™ Carrier Screen: Identifies carrier status of couples to determine risk of passing down serious inherited health conditions to children. Counsyl is the pioneer and US market leader in expanded carrier screening, and we recently introduced an updated version of this test, which now improves our industry-leading rate of detecting affected pregnancies by 16% to 1:42. Counsyl Foresight Carrier Screen was formerly known as the Family Prep Screen.
  • Counsyl Prelude™ Prenatal Screen: Detects, as early as the tenth week of pregnancy, if a baby has an increased chance for chromosome conditions such as Down syndrome, and can reduce the need for invasive tests like amniocentesis. With the lowest (0.1%) “no-call” rate among available non-invasive prenatal screening tests (NIPT), Prelude helps providers to deliver actionable insights to more patients. Counsyl Prelude Prenatal Screen was formerly known as the Informed Pregnancy Screen.
  • Counsyl Reliant™ Cancer Screen: Looks at up to 36 different genes associated an increased risk of 10 cancers (including breast, ovarian, pancreatic and others). Reliant helps women’s health providers and their patients get ahead of cancer by focusing on genes with clear cancer risks and actionable patient management guidelines. Counsyl Reliant Cancer Screen was formerly known as the Inherited Cancer Screen.
  • Counsyl Complete™: Our service platform supports healthcare providers and their patients at every step of the genetic testing process, with pre-test education, billing support, clear results reporting, and on-demand genetic counseling - with more than 60,000 counseling sessions performed. These services simplify the integration of genetic screening into routine clinical care, saving providers time and helping patients understand and benefit from their testing results.
