LITTLE ROCK, Ark.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--During a special awards ceremony held on July 9, the Office of the Arkansas Secretary of State was selected to receive the 2017 National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) IDEAS Award, which recognizes innovation and excellence in state programming. Arkansas was recognized for its Gov2Go platform, which allows citizens to receive personalized, timely, and relevant notifications designed to help streamline their interactions with government.
“It is an honor to be recognized by the NASS community, and to see all the great things Secretaries of State are doing to engage and inform voters,” Arkansas Secretary of State Mark Martin said. “We hope to continue expanding Gov2Go as a convenient, personalized way to help Arkansans do business with government and engage with the elections process.”
Gov2Go is the nation’s first digital government assistant that delivers citizen-centric government interactions. More than 375,000 Arkansans have subscribed to Gov2Go to receive useful notifications to enhance their interactions with state and local government. Gov2Go learns about its users, keeps tracks of their deadlines—such as voter registration, property tax payments, car tag renewals and property assessment—and sends important reminders to their computers, mobile devices, and Apple watches.
Arkansas Secretary of State partnered with the Information Network of Arkansas (INA), the state’s official digital government services provider, to integrate its franchise tax payment system and Voter View database into Gov2Go, enabling Arkansans to access business services, voting information personalized to their district, and other government interactions through a single platform.
Established in 2011, the NASS IDEAS (Innovation, Dedication, Excellence & Achievement in Service) Award recognizes significant state contributions to the mission of NASS, as well as honors the outstanding programs and achievements of NASS member offices. Nominations are encouraged in all areas of state government programming that are overseen or administered by Secretary of State or Lieutenant Governor offices throughout the U.S.
The NASS Awards Committee reviewed and evaluated submissions and chose four finalists to give presentations at the NASS summer conference. NASS membership voted and chose the Arkansas Secretary of State’s Office as the 2017 winner.
The NASS IDEAS Award marks the tenth award for Gov2Go, including two recent regional and international awards from the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) in the Excellence in Government Partnership category for the Department of Finance and Administration. Other accolades include 2017 Digital Edge 50 Award winner, finalist in the Government Computer News 2016 DIG IT Award competition, the NASCIO 2016 State IT Recognition Award for Emerging and Innovative Technologies, StateScoop 50 State Innovation of the Year in 2016, top eight Finalist in the American Council of Technology’s Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) 2016 Igniting Innovation Award challenge, Center for Digital Government’s Best of the Web Winner in 2015, and Finalist in Amazon Web Services’ City on a Cloud competition in 2015.
