COLLEGE STATION, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--INDECT USA today announced the installation of a state-of-the-art parking guidance system in Texas A&M University’s Cain Garage. Through this pioneering parking guidance project, 1,283 INDECT parking guidance sensors were mounted throughout the parking structure, and an additional 287 surface-mounted Nedap Sensit sensors were installed on the garage’s roof. The Cain Garage parking structure, which is located in the center of campus, serves the more than 60,000 students, staff and faculty that are part of the robust Texas A&M community. The facility provides premier parking for visitors to campus, including the Memorial Student Center, MSC Bookstore or fans attending a game at Kyle Field, which is the fourth largest stadium in the United States and the largest by seating capacity in Texas.
“Texas A&M has one of the largest campuses in Texas and with all of the events that take place there it’s not unusual for the campus to attract well over 100,000 visitors to campus,” said Dale Fowler, Director of INDECT USA. “The garage’s parking guidance system provides an extraordinarily customer-friendly parking experience to visitors or guests using the garage.”
INDECT’s Ultrasonic Mini Sensor (UMS) is the world’s most accurate ultrasonic parking guidance sensor. The INDECT sensors are mounted above parking spaces and feature a color-coded system of lights to indicate where parking is available, with different colors indicating each space’s status. Because they were mounted on the parking structure’s ceiling, the high visibility LED lights located on each sensor can easily be seen across parking aisles. LED signs located at the end of each driving aisle also indicate how many spaces are available in each parking aisle.
“Parking challenges are common in garages that serve large special events,” said Fowler. “By guiding drivers directly to available spaces, the Cain Garage parking guidance system eliminates the need for drivers to circle in search of a parking space. In addition to making parking much more convenient, the system makes the garage much safer by reducing the risk of collision with other vehicles or pedestrians.”
In addition to the ceiling-mounted INDECT sensors located inside the garage, Nedap Sensit parking guidance sensors, software integration and on-going automated sensor maintenance monitoring, provided by IPsens (www.ipsens.net), have been installed in each rooftop parking space. The wireless Nedap sensors, combined with an ongoing system maintenance monitoring, makes it the most reliable and accurate surface-mounted sensor system available. Sensors have been installed in areas of the TAMU Cain Hall Garage where overhead sensor installation was not possible. The combination of INDECT ceiling-mounted and Nedap surface-mounted sensors permits complete coverage and parking guidance for each of the parking facility’s 1434 spaces.
The Cain Garage parking guidance suite was installed by Parking Guidance Systems (PGS), LLC. With offices in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina, PGS is one of the nation’s leading distributors and installers of technology-driven parking guidance and space administration products.
