San Francisco International Airport Selects View Dynamic Glass for Terminal 1 Redevelopment

Dynamic Glass is key to improving passenger experience and achieving sustainability goals

MILPITAS, Calif.--()--View®, the leader in dynamic glass, today announced that San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has selected View Dynamic Glass for the redevelopment of Terminal 1. The airport will install more than 66,000 square feet of View Dynamic Glass to create a world-class travel experience while achieving leadership in energy efficiency at one of the world’s busiest airports.

“Our goal is to set a new standard for passenger and employee experience and operational flexibility. Incorporating dynamic glass at San Francisco International Airport helps us achieve that design objective,” said Kirsten Ritchie, Sustainable Design Director and Principal at Gensler, the architectural firm leading the project. “View Dynamic Glass is the ideal solution to improve the comfort and travel experience for millions of passengers and thousands of SFO and airline employees by bringing in more natural light into the terminal, while minimizing glare and heat.”

General contractor Hensel Phelps has a record of delivering successful aviation projects. They chose View Dynamic Glass as the best solution for San Francisco International Airport in helping achieve their vision. “View’s intelligent glass technology made the most sense for this project,” said Jeff Fredericksen, Project Manager at Hensel Phelps.

As airports focus on enhancing the passenger experience while also becoming more energy efficient, they are increasingly turning to innovative technology solutions to achieve both objectives. The Delta Sky Club at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Fort Worth’s Meacham International Airport and now San Francisco International Airport have all selected View Dynamic Glass in their recent upgrades.

“View is proud to be at the forefront of the movement to create delightful human experiences,” said Rao Mulpuri, CEO of View. “In addition to the tremendous growth in commercial offices, healthcare facilities and universities, we now see airports rapidly adopting View Dynamic Glass to transform their occupant experience, and are thrilled that our home airport of SFO is leading the trend with View.”
