TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Unata, the leading provider of 1-to-1 digital solutions for grocers, today announced it was selected as one of the 2017 Best Workplaces in Canada. The company received this honour after thorough and independent analysis by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada. Earlier this month, Unata was named one of the ten Best Workplaces in Canada for Celebrating Success, a subset award of the Great Place to Work Awards.
“We are thrilled to be named one of the top workplaces in Canada,” said Chris Bryson, Founder and CEO, Unata. “Culture is hugely important to us, and we work hard to make sure our employees know that the innovation we cultivate through our product is because of their personal efforts. It’s great to know our employees recognize and value our efforts.”
Unata is dedicated to creating a workplace where employees are engaged, feel trusted and valued and are inspired to innovate. They do this by emphasizing teamwork and transparency above all else. The 17th employee hired at Unata was a Manager of Culture, responsible for ensuring that every single team member is set up to do their best work, and creating opportunities for employees to interact and have fun outside of their daily responsibilities.
“We’re fortunate to have a large group of dedicated, passionate employees that believe in our collective vision,” said Stephanie Gossage, Manager of Culture. “A big area of focus and investment is employee culture, which I believe has played a central role in our successes hiring, and keeping, top talent in the industry.”
The competition process for the “Best Workplaces in Canada” list is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a 58-statement survey completed by a random selection of employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization’s culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures. This offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture. Together, they provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a great place to work®: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.
This year’s list received over 400 nominations and over 60,000 employees participated in the 2017 “Best Workplaces in Canada” survey. This list, and related stories, appears in a special national report published Thursday, April 27, 2017, in The Globe and Mail.
