PLANO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) signed a $36 million agreement with Cook County, Illinois, for Tyler’s Odyssey Case Manager™ solution as well as Tyler’s Brazos e-citations solution. The agreement includes integrated electronic filing and electronic citations that will feed case and citation data directly into the court case management solution, making the process more accurate and efficient for all its users. Integration between the court and law enforcement agencies is enabled by Tyler’s Alliance platform that simplifies information sharing across criminal justice departments.
“As promised, we are moving forward with major enhancements to the efficiencies of our busy court system,” said Dorothy Brown, Cook County Circuit Court Clerk. “Odyssey will improve our operations, increase access to justice for our citizens and make Chicago and Cook County safer, just as it has already in 6 of the 10 largest counties in the country.”
Cook County required a comprehensive solution that could replace multiple outdated applications being used by the court. Tyler will be replacing a mainframe system that is more than 40 years old, as well as the county’s cashiering and document management systems. Odyssey will operate these applications as one complete software solution, which will dramatically reduce costs and IT time that supported the county’s previous multiple applications.
The county selected Tyler because it provided the best solution for their needs and has a track record of success. Cook County will join many of the other largest counties in the nation – where busy criminal and civil courts improve operations with Odyssey. The fact that the Supreme Court of Illinois had already selected Tyler to provide e-filing to the state further enhances the benefits that Cook County will receive by choosing Odyssey Case Manager – eliminating paper, and improving operational efficiencies for the internal clerk staff and external court customers.
“After an exhaustive evaluation process in which we vetted the seven top vendors, it became clear why Tyler’s Odyssey is the market leader,” said Bridget Dancy, CIO, Cook County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office. “In addition to a detailed RFP process, we evaluated multiple product demonstrations to ensure the Odyssey product was a good fit for our court. Most importantly, we talked to many existing Odyssey clients who validated that Tyler is a partner that stands behind their customers during these complex implementation projects.”
Odyssey will increase efficiency, modernize processes and enable data sharing among departments within Cook County’s court system. The solution will also enable web access for the county’s constituents and provide a more seamless online presence.
“We are eager to bring this fully integrated solution to Cook County to help them improve processes and achieve their goals for innovation,” said Bruce Graham, president of Tyler’s Courts & Justice Division. “We’re incredibly proud to be the leading vendor in the country for both e-filing and case management, and we look forward to helping Cook County achieve greater efficiency and reduce costs.”
With a population of more than 5 million, Cook County is the second-most populous county in the U.S. after Los Angeles County, California, which is already using Odyssey successfully. Tyler’s Odyssey solution is being used successfully in more than 900 counties across 24 states, covering more than 100 million people.
