(NYSE:ACC), the largest owner, manager and developer of high-quality student housing properties in the U.S., today announced that the company was recognized for five awards at the 2017 Interface Conference’s 7th Annual Innovator Awards, sponsored by Student Housing Business magazine.
The company was recognized for excellence in five categories, including Best New Development, Best Use of Green & Sustainable Construction or Development, Best Public/Private Partnership Development, Most Creative Financing and Best Bandwidth/Connectivity Solution.
Since the inception of the Student Housing Business Innovator Awards, ACC has received an industry-leading total of 24 awards, furthering its best-in-class reputation among colleges, universities and industry partners. To date, ACC has completed the development of 125 communities, representing a total development of $6 billion, acquired $5.3 billion in student properties, and currently owns and manages more than 132,000 beds at 97 collegiate campuses across the country.

On-campus: Most Creative Public/Private Financing – Honors
Academic Village at The University of Toledo
The Honors Academic Village features 492 beds in modern, suite-style floor plans, and state-of-the-art amenities designed with today’s university students in mind. Through close collaboration with the University, American Campus Communities financed the project through a transaction structure using project-based, tax-exempt bonds. ACC entered into agreement with Toledo to provide ongoing management services for the Honors Academic Village, which opened in fall 2015. -
Off-campus: Best Bandwidth/Connectivity Solution – Pavlov Media
In partnership with Pavlov Media, ACC delivered significant enhancements to 25Twenty, an off-campus student housing community serving students attending Texas Tech University in Lubbock. As a result of the enhancements, the community now offers students a 1,000 Gigabit bandwidth circuit, which is connected to Pavlov Media’s 10 Gigabit fiber optic network. The enhanced connectivity supports a variety of the community’s resources for academic success, and has achieved strong resident satisfaction.
The annual Innovator Awards are designed to honor excellence in development, architecture/design, sustainable design and development, finance, marketing and promotion and amenities in student housing properties, on- and off-campus. Winners are selected by a jury of student housing industry executives.
