HURON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--n2y, a leading developer of online special education materials, is expanding the capacity of its headquarters in Huron, Ohio, and adding senior executives and staff in anticipation of continued growth.
The facility expansion, hiring activity and other growth initiatives follow a July 2016 investment in n2y by the Riverside Company, a Cleveland-based global private equity firm focused on acquiring and investing in growing businesses.
“We are excited about the opportunity that Riverside has afforded us to increase our growth rate and take the company to the next level,” said n2y President Chrissy Wostmann. “In addition to strengthening our leadership team, we are adding positions in IT, sales, marketing, quality assurance, operations, content creation, and customer support. They will help us develop new products, provide higher levels of customer service, and bring our offerings to more students with special needs, teachers, administrators and parents across the country and around the world.”
Founded in 1997, n2y moved into a newly built 5,600-square-foot building at 909 University Dr. S. in Huron in 2009 and built out to 16,800 square feet of additional space in 2014. Construction is now underway to optimize the existing space to accommodate more employees. The company has grown from 26 people at the end of 2009 to 72 at year-end 2016. It expects to have 84 employees by the end of March and more than 100 by the end of 2017.
Among the new employees who joined n2y in January 2017 are three senior executives:
- David Swank is the Chief Financial Officer of n2y. He brings over 35 years of senior finance experience in international children’s books, consumer products, and information technology organizations, from startup to over $20 billion in revenue. Prior to joining n2y, he worked at Bendon, Inc. an Ohio-based, private equity-backed marketer of children’s books and activities.
- Steven Lubowicz joined n2y as Chief Technology Officer. Steve brings IT and business leadership experience spanning several industries including education, software, manufacturing and professional services. He served as a Partner at Accenture in the firm’s Global Resources practice and as the top-level IT leader in several industry organizations. Just prior to joining n2y, Steve worked at an education management organization serving as its Chief Information Officer, as well as, VP/GM of its K-12 e-school division, providing educational services that reached several thousand students. Steve is a member of the board of the NE Ohio Society for Information Management and an advisory board member of the Center for Information Technologies & eBusiness at the University of Akron. Additionally, he works with local organizations to encourage and create career opportunities in the IT profession for high school and higher-education students Northeast Ohio. Steve is a past recipient of the Crain’s Cleveland Business CIO of the Year award.
- Margaret deBoer is n2y’s Vice President of Marketing, a new position. Previously, she was the senior vice president of marketing for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, the global educational publishing company. A former teacher, sales, marketing professional, she brings over 28 years of hands-on experience in the educational, technology and publishing fields.
