MOLINE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MetroLINK announced today its partnership with nationally recognized transportation technology provider TransLoc to provide state-of-the-art transit technology tools to local Metro bus system riders. The TransLoc Rider app is now available to Metro bus riders in the Quad Cities area, putting real-time bus location, service alerts and route information in the palm of their hands.
“The TransLoc Rider app gives our 10,000 daily riders up-to-the-minute bus information at the tap of a button,” said Jennifer Garrity, manager of administration at MetroLINK. “Many of our riders are tech-savvy millennials and young professionals who are used to getting the latest information on their smart phones. Our partnership with TransLoc enables us to give them the confidence of knowing when and where their next bus will be.”
MetroLINK staff will be on site at Centre Station, District Station and East Pointe from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. today speaking with riders about the new app and answering questions. A video tutorial about how to download and use the TransLoc app is available here.
The partnership advances MetroLINK’s mission to create an efficient transit system to ease traffic congestion and reduce air pollution. Eighty-five percent of MetroLINK’s bus fleet runs on clean burning, compressed natural gas and all new capital infrastructure is built to USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards. Now, riders have the technology to plan their entire trip with TransLoc, making public transit even more reliable and accessible.
“TransLoc’s partnership with MetroLINK demonstrates our commitment to building more efficient and sustainable public transportation systems,” says TransLoc CEO Doug Kaufman. “Access to public transportation is critically important to the Illinois Quad Cities community, with more than 90 percent of riders relying on local public transportation to get to their jobs or schools. Our goal is to support a growing economic region through our innovative transit technology.”
The TransLoc Rider app is available to download on iOS and Android devices; complete video tutorials can be found on MetroLINK’s website at: http://gogreenmetro.com/transloc.
