Hanover Hospital Awards QuadraMed a Contract for EMPI Software

HERNDON, Va.--()--QuadraMed Patient Identity Solutions, a division of Harris Healthcare, today announced that the company has been awarded a contract for its SmartIX Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) software system by Hanover Hospital, Hanover, Pennsylvania. The contract includes interfaces for the hospital’s two primary electronic medical record (EMR) systems, Meditech and eClinicalWorks.

“Our EMPI software will help Hanover Hospital detect and resolve patient identity issues within its EMRs, and to prevent accidentally creating duplicate records in the future,” said Mike Tardif, EVP, Patient Identity Solutions at QuadraMed. “The hospital’s clinicians can be confident they are providing care using the one single, complete, and accurate medical record for each patient. We’re gratified that Hanover has selected our team to provide a solution that raises the bar on quality care and patient safety.”

Hanover Hospital began its selection process by considering EMPI software from five vendors before awarding its contract to QuadraMed. “The QuadraMed team gave us a comprehensive product demonstration with excellent references,” said Scott Myers, Hanover’s Director of Applications in the MIS department. “An important factor in our final decision was that the company has experience in successfully interfacing its software with Meditech and eClinicalWorks EMRs. This will provide our staff with seamless access to the correct record for every patient, and the SmartID application within SmartIX will make it highly improbable our registrars will create any duplicates moving forward. Final system go live is scheduled for April/May 2017.”

According to Kaitlyn Ragula, RHIA, interim director and HIPAA privacy officer, Health Information Management, the EMPI training program has been completed, and SmartIX has been installed to detect any duplicate records that may exist in the Meditech system. “SmartIX gives us the capability to identify more criteria within our medical records than we previously had access to, which helps to ensure we can find and merge any duplicates that may otherwise have gone unidentified,” she said. “Next, we’ll be using it for patient data integrity in our eClinicalWorks system containing the ambulatory patient records of our hospital-owned physician practices. After go live, the EMPI will be used by our hospital and all of its satellite locations.”
