BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hemenway & Barnes LLP, one of Boston’s leading legal and fiduciary firms, today announced that M. Patrick Moore Jr. has joined its business and non-profit law practices as Counsel.
Pat is a litigator with a unique perspective on the mechanics of federal and state government. He brings to clients a background in business and appellate litigation, and an understanding of legislative and regulatory initiatives at all levels of government.
Before joining Hemenway & Barnes, Pat was an Associate Counsel and Advisor for Presidential Personnel at the White House, in the administration of President Barack Obama. There, he vetted prospective nominees for executive, judicial, and independent agency positions; evaluated clemency petitions; and analyzed legal issues on behalf of the President.
Pat’s experience in state government includes roles as Deputy Counsel for Massachusetts Governors Deval L. Patrick and Charles D. Baker. In those positions, he drafted or evaluated innumerable laws and regulations and, in some cases, defended them against legal challenge.
Pat is an Adjunct Professor at Boston College Law School, where he teaches Administrative Law. He is the author of “Regulations & Rulemaking,” a chapter in the 2015 treatise LexisNexis Massachusetts Administrative Law Manual.
“Hemenway & Barnes advises clients on navigating a range of legal issues impacted by government actions,” said Kurt Somerville, managing partner at Hemenway and Barnes. “Pat’s experience in government law and litigation will be a great asset in meeting those challenges, and we look forward to working with him for the long run.”
