MASHANTUCKET, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and Foxwoods® Resort Casino raised over $140,000 during the 2016 MPTN Giving Campaign, an annual fundraising effort to support community members in need. Local beneficiaries included United Way of Southeastern Connecticut and their partner agencies, and Foxwoods’ Employee Emergency Assistance Fund which received $108,251 and $33,433, respectively. Additionally, Foxwoods’ fourth annual “Stuff the Bus” campaign collected over 15,000 new, unwrapped children’s toys, blankets, winter coats and other essentials for United Way of Southeastern Connecticut’s “Tommy Toy” Fund program.

United Way of Southeastern Connecticut is a local, non-profit organization located in New London, Connecticut. Through research, the organization has found that certain areas within the community require careful attention in order to thrive. In support of New London County, the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut accordingly addresses at least one of these priority areas, including community wellness, thriving children, basic needs, and promoting independence, when allocating donation funds.
The Employee Emergency Assistance Fund was created by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and Foxwoods to help aide eligible team members in times of personal financial crisis due to unexpected and emergency events. It is designed to address sudden, unexpected and critical catastrophes such as a family crisis, acute illness, natural disaster or fire. Team members are able to rely on funds that have been generously donated to the program through employee and non-employee contributions in their greatest time of need.
