Agilent Technologies Receives Top Innovation Award from The Analytical Scientist

Publication Recognizes the Intuvo 9000 GC System as One of the Greatest Analytical Advances of the Year

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--()--Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that The Analytical Scientist has ranked the Agilent Intuvo 9000 Gas Chromatograph System No. 1 on its list of this year’s best innovations.

The publication, which specializes in analytical chemistry, praised the Intuvo for its highly advanced temperature control, leak-free connections and innovative column design.

“Intuvo eliminates three major hurdles for (gas chromatography) and paves the way for use by less experienced operators,” the judges wrote. “It also greatly simplifies many of the day-to-day tasks that can hinder operational efficiency. Intuvo´s new features are a great way to expand the user base of a standard analytical instrument like a GC, and deal with some of the seemingly trivial yet most challenging issues for the GC operator.”

Intuvo innovations include accelerated heating that reduces sample time, and column replacement that’s over 10 times faster, improving uptime. The elimination of column trimming and fewer leaks mean that mistakes are reduced, avoiding costly reruns and delays. Intuvo also helps to drive sustainable operational improvements for the laboratory including faster sample results and turnaround for priority samples; cost per billable sample; space and energy savings; and asset management. By streamlining the GC experience, including installation, setup, operation and maintenance, Intuvo is transforming the way GC is performed.

“We’re honored to be placed first in The Analytical Scientist Innovation Awards,” said Shanya Kane, vice president and general manager of Agilent´s Gas Chromatography Division. “Customers and independent experts alike are recognizing the game-changing benefits that Intuvo brings. This is a testament to Agilent´s ability to continue to innovate in fields where we are already the market leader, by listening to our customers and solving the challenges they face today, as well as anticipating and addressing their future concerns.”

Innovations were nominated by readers and voted on by a panel of independent experts and The Analytical Scientist editorial team. The top 15 industry winners were recognized, with Intuvo receiving the top ranking.

“Now in their fourth year, The Analytical Scientist Innovation Awards showcase the instruments and technologies that we anticipate will have a game-changing impact on analytical science – and beyond,” said editor Rich Whitworth.

The Analytical Scientist covers all aspects of analytical chemistry, from advances in science and technology to firsthand accounts from laboratories.
