TOKYO--()--Toshiba Corporation’s (TOKYO:6502) Storage & Electronic Devices Solutions Company today announced the launch of a 1.3A output current CMOS LDO regulator, TCR13AGADJ, for use in the power supplies of mobile devices, housed in the industry’s leading-class[1] small package. In the WCSP6F package, the new regulator measures just 0.8mm x 1.2mm, t: 0.33mm (max). Shipments start from today.

TCR13AGADJ is an LDO regulator that can be used in a variety of applications including Wi-Fi® chipsets for smartphones and tablets, power supplies for cameras and RF modules, and power supply control of wearable devices, notebook PCs, digital video cameras, storage devices and set-top boxes. By utilizing an external bias power supply terminal (VBAT), the new product achieves the industry’s leading-class[1] low dropout voltage[2], making it possible to improve the efficiency of the power supplies of the sets that it is used in.

TCR13AGADJ utilizes the 0.8mm x 1.2mm, t: 0.33mm(max) WCSP6F package, the industry’s leading-class small package for 1.3A LDO regulators, making it suitable for mobile and module applications that require small footprints and thin silhouettes.

In addition, the new product achieves the industry’s leading-class[1] high ripple rejection ratio, which can help in drastically reducing ripple noise from DCDC converters and PMIC, common problems users face when trying to supply power to camera and RF parts. Using an external resistor, the output voltage of the new product can be adjusted between the wide range of 0.55V to 3.6V to meet the needs of the power supply application in which it is used.

Built-in protection features include over-current protection and over-temperature protection. These features support creation of high efficiency LDO solutions for applications that need stable output voltage at high output currents, and low power consumption.

Main Features of the New Product:

  1. Industry’s leading-class[1] small “WCSP6F package” measuring just 0.8mm x 1.2mm, t: 0.33mm (max).
  2. Wide-range adjustable output voltage: from 0.55 V to 3.6 V
  3. Industry’s leading-class[1] low dropout voltage: 92mV (typ.), 162mV (max)@ 0.9V, 1.0A
  4. Industry’s leading-class[1] high ripple rejection ratio: 90dB (typ.)@0.9V, 1kHz
  5. Built-in protection features that include over-current protection, over-temperature protection, inrush current protection and auto-discharge function.
