The soft metallic hue emerges as the hero color from “Captivate,” a four-trend color story identified by the Sherwin-Williams Diversified Brands Division’s Color and Design Team.
A warmer, directional move from rose gold, copper is multi-dimensional in both color and sheen. This versatile ‘metal of the moment’ can be both luxury and DIY, giving industrial design more polished refinement. This all-around natural metal pairs well with a wide range of colors, from delicate off-whites to softened greens, to rich navys and deep slate grays and complements many different textured surfaces including concrete or wood. Its seamless application into different lifestyle aspects make it a go-to color for everything from fashion to home décor – both indoor and out.
Captivate is four unique trend stories with influences spanning home décor, design, art, fashion and food. Its purpose is to inspire professionals and homeowners to confidently experiment with color not just in their homes but in every aspect of their lives. Though each trend encompasses a diverse color palette, metallic – and specifically copper – emerged as a consistent theme within all the 2017 trends.

Enigma
Enigma explores the light that can come from darkness and takes inspiration from the night and stars. This trend palette combines moonlit brights and intense darks to create a divinely romantic mood. To express this trend Krylon is adding three new colors to their general purpose lines Satin Silver Lilac in SUPERMAXX All-In-One and Metallic Graphite and Matte Eggplant in COVERMAXX.
Purpose
In the story of Purpose, designs are simple and colors take direction from materials that are processed, blended and oxidized. Traditional browns, pale pastels and robust earth tones make up this palette. New to Krylon’s color palette in 2017 is Satin Coastal Green in Krylon SUPERMAXX All-In-One.
Convergence
The Convergence story marries stylish design elements from the past and present to create timeless modernity. The color palette offers rich dark tones such as teal blue and sable brown warmed by the refined hues of dusty rose and gold. The addition of Matte Summer Wheat to the COVERMAXX line adds warmth to Krylon’s color selection and builds on this trend palette.
Intrinsic
The final color story brings the outdoors indoors with chocolate browns and forest greens anchoring the Intrinsic palette. Saturated tones like spiced pumpkin work as complementary contrasts with berry purple and evergreen. Krylon’s new SUPERMAXX All-In-One Metallic Hammered Cocoa Brown hue will add a bold, natural effect to any home item and help bring the Intrinsic story to life.
