FREMONT, Calif.--()--Perfect365®, the free, virtual try-on makeup and beauty app loved by celebrities and more than 80 million users that is leading the digital beauty evolution, today announced the results from a survey conducted by Poshly and in collaboration with the Bay Area Beauty Association. According to the survey of 175 women between the ages of 18-35, 78% would be more inclined to purchase makeup from a brand if they could see what it looks likes virtually on their face before purchasing it. These results and several others were released today in the form of an infographic and full report.

“Trust is a major factor for Millennials and who they trust is dramatically shifting from previous generations. According to our research, 65% trust the makeup recommendation of a makeup artist or beauty influencer on Instagram or YouTube over a salesperson in the store, even if they've worked with them before. Re-establishing this trust will be key for in-store salespeople. Bridging the digital divide, and connecting with customers on digital platforms will be an important step,” said Vickie Wei, Director of Corporate Communications for Perfect365.

Now coined as the “Digital Beauty Evolution,” Perfect365 is leading the way in enabling beauty brands to connect with 80 million users worldwide, mostly made up of Millennials. For the beauty industry, Millennials are an ideal consumer. Over exposure of celebrities through media, reality TV and social media has dissolved inherent barriers and opened up full access to everything “the good life” has to offer. Millennials need for instant-access and desire for experimentation and engagement with beauty products on their smartphones has come full circle. In addition, advancements in face recognition technologies are allowing precise placement of lipsticks, eye shadows, eye liner, brows, eyelashes, blush and hairstyles on a digital platform a reality, and beauty brands are taking notice.

“For beauty brands, digital beauty is the next major wave that will create a dramatic shift in the beauty industry and how consumers interface with their products. Many brands are still trying to navigate how to embrace and adjust to this new generation of beauty buyers. For beauty brands who are wanting to test the waters of the virtual world, digital makeup applications like Perfect365, present a unique opportunity to connect with millions of consumers. In addition to offering a virtual ‘try-on’ experience, making this type of technology very disruptive but best of all, accessible to the valuable consumers,” said Sinead Norenius-Raniere, Board Member, of the Bay Area Beauty Association.
