NASHVILLE, Tenn.--()--Clearwater Compliance, a leading provider of hospital cybersecurity and compliance solutions, today announced a significant expansion of its leadership team by naming Barry Mathis as senior vice president and chief business development officer reporting to Clearwater chief executive officer Bob Chaput. Mathis is a respected sales leader, entrepreneur and senior executive hired to spearhead Clearwater’s ambitious growth and the advancement of the company’s mission to help hospitals and health systems successfully manage evolving cybersecurity risks to safeguard sensitive information and help ensure patient safety.

Mathis joins Clearwater from HIVE, a private equity backed healthcare IT company that provides revenue cycle management technology solutions to healthcare providers, where he most recently served as vice president of Business Development. In his role Mathis was responsible for the overall growth strategy of the company, its marketing strategy and execution, brand management, digital marketing and social media.

Mathis was instrumental in the development and rollout of a business model that HIVE offers to its clients. He designed a sales process that has resulted in a total of 16 new clients valued at over $10M in annual revenue. He also created and implemented a channel partner program that includes over 20 partners actively producing opportunities leading to an $18M plus pipeline.

In his new role, he is responsible for understanding evolving customer requirements, identifying new business opportunities and developing strategic relationships. Mathis also will direct Clearwater’s brand strategy and marketing plan to advance the company’s mission and goals and the organization’s visibility in the marketplace.

The leadership addition of Mathis comes as Clearwater is experiencing record growth with the strong demand for its Cyber Risk Services (CRS) solution. The company is wrapping up 2016 with significant momentum, a growing client base, a new collaboration with the National Institute of Standards and Technology and an exclusive endorsement of its new solution by the American Hospital Association. Combining the sales and marketing areas under Mathis’ leadership will advance Clearwater’s go-to-market strategy, branding and sales and drive innovation.

“Clearwater is poised to continue its success as Mathis knows what it takes to drive new growth and he will give Clearwater an edge,” said Bob Chaput, chief executive officer and founder of Clearwater. “We are fortunate to have someone of Barry’s caliber take the leadership of our sales and marketing areas. Barry is the right sales and marketing leader to help us take the company to the next level. His experience uniquely positions him to lead Clearwater’s business development and marketing efforts to support our rapid growth trajectory.”

“I’m thrilled to join Clearwater during this exciting time as we transform the company into an industry leader,” said Mathis. “Clearwater is a fast growing company. The industry is in a period of tremendous change. The opportunity to improve hospital cybersecurity and patient safety has never been bigger or more necessary. I look forward to positioning Clearwater for the next phase of growth.”

Mathis has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Samford University.
