DRAPER, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ameritech College of Healthcare has been named the top vocational, career and community college nursing school in Utah and among the top 2 percent in the United States by the Nursing Schools Almanac inaugural ranking, a designation that underscores the school’s reputation as one of Utah’s leaders in nursing education.
Nursing Schools Almanac named Ameritech 25th nationwide among vocation, career and community colleges for nursing education after collecting data on more than 1,900 vocational schools offering nursing courses.
“We’re grateful that more people are recognizing the quality and value of what we deliver,” said Julie Aiken, CEO of Ameritech. “We’re growing in numbers because of word-of-mouth, and this designation highlights our caring staff, the program we’ve developed, and the quality we’ve maintained.”
Nursing Schools Almanac evaluated vocational nursing programs on three dimensions:
—The institution’s academic prestige and perceived value
—The
breadth and depth of nursing programs offered
—Student success,
particularly on the NCLEX national licensure exam
The Almanac’s website said Ameritech students perform “extremely well” on their licensure exams and employment searches.
Ameritech’s nursing graduates passed boards on their first attempt last year at a rate of 95.3 percent, compared to 85.5 percent statewide and 84.5 percent nationally.
Ameritech’s average student is approximately 30 years old, and many are in a career transition or starting college for the first time and otherwise wouldn’t be served by the traditional university system.
Nursing students at Ameritech use a complex human patient simulator to enhance critical thinking and complete 435 clinical hours as part of the program.
Ameritech also serves working nurses who are often too busy to spend hours of their day in the classroom advancing their knowledge in the healthcare industry. Through online courses, however, RNs can continue their education at their own pace and on their own time schedule. Completion of the BSN degree can happen in as quickly as three semesters.
