CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--This November, BrightStar Care, the nation’s leading in-home senior care franchise, is launching an Alzheimer’s Awareness campaign called Memories and Connections designed to equip family care partners with information, tips, and activities to create meaningful connections with loved ones living with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Throughout the month, the company will share daily tips for creating positive connections; showcase real, personal stories of connections between clients, families, and BrightStar Care caregivers; and will host two Facebook Live chats to answer questions from family care partners.
“It’s no secret that caring for someone living with Alzheimer's disease can be a stressful and intensely emotional journey,” said Sharon Roth Maguire, MS, RN, GNP-BC, BrightStar Care Chief Clinical Quality Officer. “Caregiving also offers moments of great joy. We understand that one of the most valuable components when caring for a loved one living with the disease is to spark a connection — through listening to music, paging through a photo album, or holding an object of meaning that can unlock a beautiful personal memory. There are many, many ways that these connections can be made, and this November, we are putting the right tools into the hands of family care partners.”
The Memories and Connections campaign will revolve around themes that provide specific advice and suggestions to help family care partners, including Meaningful Activities (Art, Music, Food/Cooking, Nature), Safety (Fall Prevention, Medication Management, Wandering), Navigating the Holidays (Traditions, Gifts, Travel), and Healthy Living (Exercise & Nutrition).
Further showcasing its expertise on the subject of Alzheimer’s and caregiving, BrightStar Care will host two Facebook Live chats during the month. Roth Maguire will host these live, Q&A style forums November 9 and 16 at 11:30a Central. During these chats, Roth Maguire will answer questions from family care partners pertaining to two specific topics — Safety (November 9) and Navigating the Holidays (November 16). Roth Maguire has 30 years of clinical experience in Alzheimer’s and dementia care. She designed the BrightStar Care approach to memory care on the premise that, under the watchful eye of BrightStar Care registered nurses, clients’ lives can be enriched with person-centered care that preserves dignity, provides assistance, and promotes activity. Anyone interested in joining the chats can do so by visiting the BrightStar Care Facebook Page.
BrightStar Care also is sharing stories of real families’ caregiving experiences and the BrightStar Care caregivers that help them. Visit BrightStarCare.com/Memories-And-Connections or the BrightStar Care Facebook page to read these real life stories and ideas to help care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. The company invites the public to share their own connection stories on social media by using the hashtag #memoriesandconnections.
