SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Through the application of digital transformation, EnerNOC has delivered more than $1 billion in customer savings to date, and Coreso’s (COoRdination of Electricity System Operators) ability to compile data for critical international energy flow monitoring and prediction has dropped from hours to minutes thanks to their implementation of Bonita BPM.
Digital transformation through BPM process-based applications has wide applicability in the energy sector: in production, distribution, consumption. EnerNOC – a leading provider of cloud‐based energy intelligence software (EIS) and services to thousands of enterprise customers and utilities globally – needed an automated system to help make their consumption curtailment process run smoothly and efficiently.
“With our old human-intensive operation, errors were creeping in because people were relying on private timers, clicking on the wrong button, and so on. In a worst case, say we mistakenly dispatched 800 providers for two hours – we would probably be out millions of dollars,” said Per Gyllstrom, EnerNOC’s Chief Architect. The elimination or reduction of human interaction within orchestrated workflow has reduced the human error that can sneak in, and allows near real-time adjustments.
Coreso is responsible for coordinating services for electricity transmission for over 40% of the European Union. It helps assure supply by providing an overview of electricity flows at regional levels to complement national data. “If we are not able to provide necessary data, this can result in a decoupling on the European energy market with an enormous financial impact,” said Erik Wolfs, IT Director at Coreso. Like at EnerNOC, the processes involved previously required a lot of manual work. With their transformed data handling using Bonita BPM, Coreso engineers are able to compile data faster, and re-run reports with new data as weather, environmental, and other changes occur. Prior to implementing a BPM solution, data collection took hours. Now it can be completed in about 20 minutes.
Miguel Valdes Faura, CEO of Bonitasoft: "Clearly energy applications involving suppliers, distributors, and consumers are critical, and we are seeing digital transformation in these key areas accelerate, even more than in the other enterprise internal processes.”
“We are now not in an evolution, but a revolution. The way people work with energy is changing rapidly,” adds Erik Wolfs. Digital transformation with BPM is playing a role in the energy revolution.
