SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mixpanel, the leading provider of analytics for mobile and web, today announced new company milestones and the strategic expansion of its senior leadership team as it prepares for its next phase of growth. Joining the company are Stu Aaron, President and Chief Operating Officer and Shawn Hansen, Chief Marketing Officer, along with industry luminary Max Levchin as member of the Board of Directors.
Company Momentum
Mixpanel continues to expand its leadership position in the rapidly growing analytics marketplace with 500,000 mobile apps, websites, and projects now under management. In the past quarter, the company’s customer base has grown to roughly 20,000, and for the first time, enterprises account for approximately 50 percent of revenue.
Marquee recent enterprise customers include Amazon, Capital One, DocuSign, Expedia, IBM, Intuit, Salesforce, Samsung, Uber, US Bank, and VMWare. Mixpanel has received glowing reviews from some of these industry giants, including:
- Emmett Shear, CEO of Amazon subsidiary Twitch, has said that Mixpanel gives his team “the ability to select subsets of events, and then divide them out by country or game or whether the users are logged in: it’s simply incredible.”
- Intuit subsidiary Mint.com tracks custom A/B Testing within Mixpanel and discovered that cutting a fee by 50% would result in a marked increase in payers, payments, retention, and overall revenue – even with the fee cut.
- Frank Stanton, VP of User Experience at US Bank subsidiary Elavon, has described “with Mixpanel, we’re able to see that we’re on the right track to building products our customers love.”
Leadership Appointments
To help accelerate Mixpanel’s growth, the senior leadership team has expanded to include two new executives, selected for their track records of success in the enterprise technology sector. Additionally, Max Levchin, CEO of Affirm and Co-founder of Paypal, has accepted a position on Mixpanel’s board of directors.
“Our ability to attract strategic leaders with this wealth of experience reflects our market leadership position,” said Suhail Doshi, co-founder and CEO of Mixpanel. “As our products have achieved at-scale performance and reliability, we are investing in sales and marketing to accelerate the next phase of our expansion in the enterprise marketplace.”
Stu Aaron, President and Chief Operating Officer
Stu brings
more than two decades of tech-sector leadership to the Mixpanel team,
having played principal roles in multiple highly successful startup
ventures across diverse industries. Stu previously served as Chief
Commercial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer at Blue Jeans Network,
where he helped grow the business from zero to a leadership position in
the video collaboration market. Before that, Stu held a similar role at
cleantech stalwart Bloom Energy, which he launched to tremendous fanfare
in 2010 on CBS’s 60 Minutes. Stu has also led several other technology
start-ups to successful IPO and M&A exits. As President and COO, Stu
will have responsibility for all customer facing organizations,
including sales, marketing, customer success, customer support, and
business operations.
“I am excited to be joining a strong leadership team and to help shape the future of Mixpanel,” said Stu Aaron. “Mixpanel invented event and user behavior tracking, which has now become the industry standard. With a strong global presence, tremendous customer base, and best in class technology, Mixpanel has an amazing foundation to build upon. We have now outgrown the label of buzzy startup, and I am excited to help lead the company through its next phase of growth.”
Shawn Hansen, Chief Marketing Officer
Shawn also brings more
than twenty years of experience to Mixpanel, having held leadership
roles in top technology companies including Microsoft and Cisco. Most
recently, he served as Chief Marketing Officer at Spireon, Inc., where
he helped establish the company as the market leader in IoT connected
vehicles and grew its subscriber base to 3.5 million. Previously, he was
responsible for Microsoft’s popular SQL Data Warehouse cloud service and
Microsoft Analytics Platform System. At Mixpanel, Shawn leads the
marketing organization, as well as sales enablement and sales
development.
Max Levchin, CEO of Affirm and Mixpanel Board Member
Max is
the cofounder and CEO of Affirm, a financial services technology
company, and cofounder and Chairman of Glow, a women’s reproductive and
sexual health company. Both companies were created and launched from his
San Francisco based innovation and investment lab, HVF (Hard, Valuable,
Fun). Max was one of the original cofounders of PayPal where he served
as the CTO until its acquisition by Ebay in 2002. In 2004, he founded
Slide, a personal media-sharing service for social networking sites such
as MySpace and Facebook which he sold to Google in August 2010. Also in
2004, he helped start Yelp, where he was the first investor in and
Chairman of the Board from 2004 until 2015. He has served on several
boards such as Yahoo!, Yelp, Evernote and currently serves on the
Consumer Advisory Board of the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection
Bureau. Max is a serial entrepreneur, computer scientist, philanthropist
and active investor in more than 100 startups.
“I’ve seen many startups transition into successful businesses,” said Max Levchin, CEO of Affirm, Co-founder of Paypal and Mixpanel Board Member. “Mixpanel pioneered the first analytics push from page views to events, and I am excited to join its board as it leads the next major leap forward.”
