ExxonMobil and Bandera Showcase New Exceed XP Performance Polymer Food Packaging Film Solution

  • Helps maximize performance/cost, while taking into account energy reduction targets
  • Produces extremely damage resistant films to protect and preserve food products
  • Increases output and reduces cost, through downgauging and simplified inventories

BRUSSELS--()--ExxonMobil and Costruzioni Meccaniche Luigi Bandera are collaborating at K2016 for the first time to demonstrate a 5-layer flexible line for food lamination packaging and barrier film, which includes Exceed™ XP – when eXtreme Performance matters -- at the Bandera booth (Hall 17 / C06) on their TechnoFlex® extrusion line with inline FTA system to improve film planarity.

Well known in the agricultural films and construction liners sector and strongly positioned and credited as a worldwide top packaging and converting solutions designer and manufacturer, Bandera is showcasing their capabilities in the food packaging market. Producing films with exceptional mechanical properties while being energy efficient during film processing and conversion is a major focus for high-performing packaging lines.

“We aim to deliver extrusion lines with high performance/cost, while taking into account energy consumption reduction targets, which are becoming increasingly important," said Diego Castiglioni, technical director, Bandera. “The combination of our machine technology with Exceed XP allows us to maximize these benefits.”

“In working together, it became apparent that our new Exceed XP was the best performance polymer for this film formulation. The inherent low seal initiation temperature of structures made with Exceed XP can help meet energy efficiency needs down the value chain,” said Dirk Van Der Sanden, global processing and converting advisor, ExxonMobil Chemical. “Additionally, the extreme toughness combined with the melt strength allows converters to optimize film formulations through linear polyethylene blends. This results in increased output and reduced cost, through downgauging and simplified inventories.”

These new Exceed XP performance polymers are part of ExxonMobil’s commitment to helping customers achieve sustained business growth. It is by sharing knowledge and working in collaboration across the value chain that creates differentiated solutions for applications when extreme performance matters.
