ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Patientco, the leading healthcare payments technology company that optimizes the payment experience for providers and patients alike, today announced its participation in the 2017 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Revenue Cycle Improvement (RCI) Task Force. In the company’s third year of participation, Bird Blitch, Patientco’s co-founder and chief executive officer, has been appointed as the Task Force’s chair for the year.
The RCI Task Force’s mission focuses on painting an unbiased picture of the future of the healthcare revenue cycle and outlining the action needed to move the industry toward that future. With membership including representatives from provider organizations, financial institutions, payers, technology companies, revenue cycle vendors and professional associations, the Task Force convenes all stakeholders to collaborate around a bigger purpose: improving the revenue cycle experience for both providers and patients.
“The HIMSS Revenue Cycle Improvement Task Force demonstrates HIMSS’ strength as a thought leader, bringing a diverse group of stakeholders with competing agendas together to proactively address revenue cycle challenges created by changing payment models, increasing patient financial responsibility and the evolution of consumerism in healthcare,” said Pam Jodock, HIMSS Senior Director of Health Business Solutions. “The group is focused on a vision that keeps administrative cost containment, interoperability and consumer engagement front and center.”
Recently, the Task Force held an in-person working session to kick off this year’s efforts. With 25 companies in attendance, including both vendor and provider parties, the Task Force discussed its progress over the last few years, as well as goals for this year, including:
- Supporting the future of patient financial experience;
- Performing a gap analysis to assess the current patient financial experience during pre-treatment, treatment, coordination of care and patient satisfaction;
- Communicating the analysis results to empower providers and vendors to improve patient financial experience; and
- Showcasing findings at the HIMSS17 Interoperability Showcase in a revenue cycle-specific vignette.
“This year, the Task Force is focusing on finding solutions that keep the patient’s perspective top of mind while redefining where revenue cycle management should be in the future in order to support this,” said Blitch. “At the end of the day, every individual is a consumer of healthcare, so we start and finish with that viewpoint in mind.”
