SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--(NASDAQ: AMZN)—Amazon today announced it is creating more than 120,000 seasonal positions across its U.S. network of fulfillment centers, sortation centers and customer service sites this holiday season. Last year, more than 14,000 seasonal positions were transitioned to regular, full-time roles after the holidays and the company expects to increase that number this year.
“This is our favorite time of year—we love serving customers during the busy holiday season and we’re excited to bring on more than 120,000 seasonal employees this year to support growing customer demand,” said Mike Roth, Amazon Vice President of Global Customer Fulfillment. “Last year alone, more than 14,000 seasonal employees stayed on in regular, full-time positions after the holidays and we expect to increase that number this year.”
Seasonal positions are being offered in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
So far this year, Amazon has created tens of thousands of new full-time roles in its U.S. fulfillment and customer service centers. Full-time employees receive competitive wages and comprehensive benefits, including healthcare, 401(k) with 50 percent match, stock awards and bonuses. Amazon also offers employees innovative programs such as Career Choice, which pre-pays 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon. Since the program’s launch four years ago, more than 7,000 employees in 10 countries have pursued degrees in game design and visual communications, nursing, IT programming and radiology, to name a few.
Throughout the year on average, nearly 90 percent of associates across the company’s U.S. fulfillment network are regular, full-time employees.
