NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Navigant has been selected by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) as a key partner to establish and operate REV Connect, an initiative to advance critical project development under Reforming the Energy Vision (REV), Governor Cuomo’s comprehensive strategy to build a clean, resilient and affordable energy system for all New Yorkers.
REV Connect will offer a central forum for third parties to submit REV project ideas and receive expert guidance, feedback and facilitation, and will match ideas with customers, communities, and utilities to advance high quality REV demonstrations and other innovative projects, while enhancing the culture of innovation in New York State.
“Innovation of energy technologies and business models, specifically for distributed energy resources, are transforming the way utilities do business as well as the way customers consume energy,” said Jan Vrins, leader of Navigant’s Global Energy segment. “We are thrilled to collaborate with NYSERDA to create a more dynamic, resilient, clean, valuable, and affordable energy system in New York.”
President and CEO of NYSERDA John B. Rhodes said, “Under Governor Cuomo’s leadership, New York State is at the forefront of energy innovation, and REV Connect will help enable energy market participants to develop and roll out cutting-edge solutions, find project partners and learn from each other’s experiences. We look forward to working with Navigant and its partners on this important work.”
Navigant, partnered with the New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology (NY-BEST) Consortium, Modern Grid Partners and Zpryme, will:
- Take stock of the current state of REV implementation including REV demonstration projects.
- Develop an inventory of areas of interest, identified and potential market needs, promising ideas, challenges, and means to engage with REV market participants.
- Develop a REV Connect online portal and other tools for market engagement to share knowledge and act as a point of intake for ideas, technologies and projects, while also providing multi-faceted engagement opportunities to market actors and utilities - from daily availability to structured events aimed at fostering alignment and idea creation.
- Create a plan for continued operation of REV Connect beyond the term of its contract.
