DALLAS & SUN VALLEY, Idaho--()--The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) now offers a specialized social network for women with ovarian cancer. The NOCC CancerConnect Community provides these women a safe, secure and private online resource, where they can find peer-to-peer support, share their experience and build community. This new online platform is now available at http://nocccommunity.ovarian.org/.

“We’ve listened to various women battling this devastating cancer asking for a platform to share similar experiences and that’s why we’re so excited to launch NOCC CancerConnect Community. We believe it will play an emotional and supportive role in the treatment of ovarian cancer,” says Debra Battista, Chapter Relations Manager for the NOCC. “The idea is to provide a safe, anonymous social media community where survivors can learn from other survivors.”

The NOCC CancerConnect Community will provide a secure environment where these individuals can share information, provide support, and validate their experience with others as they learn to manage and cope with their situation.

“Women with ovarian cancer and their families need ongoing access to information and support,” explains Charles Weaver, MD, a medical oncologist and CEO of OMNI Health Media. “We are pleased that leading advocacy groups like the NOCC continue to select CancerConnect as the preferred social media application.”

Increased awareness, improved genetic testing, and access to new management strategies are all important for women at risk of developing ovarian cancer as well as those battling the disease.
