WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CHI Franciscan Health of Tacoma, Washington has recently turned to Glytec for its comprehensive eGlycemic Management System®, or eGMS®, which includes FDA-cleared technology for both intravenous and subcutaneous real-time insulin dosing.
“Proper glucose control among our inpatient population is truly essential to providing high-quality, cost-effective care,” explains Tim Lynch, PharmD, MS, division director of Pharmacy and residency director at CHI Franciscan. “Glytec’s solution suite will allow us to meet the broader requirements of our health system.”
CHI Franciscan will implement Glytec’s eGMS® across all eight of its full-service hospitals. The eGMS® will support glycemic management in critical care and intensive care units as well as medical/surgical floors and emergency departments. The health system has subscribed to multiple eGMS® modules, including Glucommander™, GlucoMetrics®, GlucoSurveillance®, GlucoView® and SmartClick®. The software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution suite offers access to proprietary insulin dosing algorithms, robust analytics and reporting, automated surveillance and alerting, and more. It also offers integration with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and connected devices.
“The fact Glytec’s eGMS® will be integrated with our Epic electronic medical record is a real advantage,” adds Lynch. “Any longer, this is a requirement for new healthcare technology.”
It is expected that CHI Franciscan will have more than 5,000 Glucommander™ users and prescribers. Included among them will be endocrinologists, hospitalists and other MDs as well as pharmacists, nurses and diabetes educators. The Glytec clinical services organization will work closely with the CHI Franciscan glycemic management committee to tailor the eGMS® to specific workflows, protocols and preferences.
“Our primary goal with CHI Franciscan is to make sure we tailor our solution suite to achieve the results they are seeking, and help them improve outcomes,” says Melanie Mabrey, DNP, ACNP-BC, BC-ADM, CDTC, FAANP, Vice President of Clinical Practice at Glytec. “They have a lot of experience in glycemic management and a lot of great ideas. They will be an exciting partner for Glytec.”
