Advent Intermodal Integrates PreGate System into Its eModal Mobile App

Enhanced App Streamlines the Pre-Arrival Process by Enabling Drivers to Check in via Mobile

MURRAY HILL, N.J.--()--Advent Intermodal Solutions, a leading provider of IT-based intermodal solutions, today at the Intermodal Expo in Houston unveiled a new version of its eModal Mobile application that supports the pre-arrival process for terminals utilizing the eModal PreGate system. The enhanced mobile app will allow truck drivers to complete pre-gate activities on the go, giving them more control and streamlining the check-in process prior to executing their terminal visit.

Terminals that utilize Advent’s eModal PreGate system will be able to offer the mobile app to support the pre-arrival process. Truckers will be able to receive critical updates from terminals for their moves and update the transaction details, such as seal and container numbers, to expedite export moves on the go. The mobile app will also allow truckers to upload attachments and pictures against the move to share with the terminal.

“This update is the first of many mobile enhancements planned over the next few months that will allow users to better streamline logistical processes,” said Michael Mayhew, senior business development manager at Advent. “While other mobile apps can identify who is near a marine terminal, eModal Mobile is the only solution that can provide visibility into who is near the terminal, why they are there and whether they will be able to successfully complete their job.”

For terminal operators, the new version of eModal Mobile will provide insight into drivers’ trips to help inform terminal operations. Once a driver checks in and activates a trip, the terminal operator can see their progress via live GPS tracking and send notifications to the driver through the app.

The eModal PreGate system is used by terminals across North America to proactively manage truck traffic, operational pace and transactions. Implementing the PreGate system allows terminal managers to balance congestion in the port precinct by metering truck traffic and reducing failed transactions at the marine terminal.

The PreGate system is part of eModal, a cloud solution that enables intermodal customers to manage truck registries, appointments, dispatching, chassis rental billing and fee payments. The new version of eModal Mobile will be available for download October 5 from the Apple App Store and Google Play. Advent is previewing the mobile app at the Intermodal Expo September 18 – 20 at booth number 638.
