SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A new clinical study published in the Journal of Lipids revealed that two emulsified omega-3 supplements from Coromega; Coromega Big Squeeze and Coromega Omega3 Squeeze, have superior absorption compared to omega-3 soft gels and other emulsified liquids. The randomized, controlled clinical trial matched eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) dosage levels for each patient in a single dose absorption model. Blood levels of EPA were measured periodically over a 48-hour period following administration. The higher blood EPA levels seen in the patients who received a dose of either Coromega Big Squeeze or Coromega Omega-3 Squeeze indicates that a greater amount of omega-3 was absorbed into the blood from the supplements. This study precisely demonstrates that Coromega’s omega-3 supplements provide exceptional bioavailability of omega-3s compared to soft gels and other emulsified liquids.
“Our bloodstream is a super-highway for delivering nutrients throughout the body,” said Dr. Doug Bibus, Coromega Scientific Advisory Board Member. “From this study we can see that a single dose of Coromega’s fish oil has a profound effect on the blood’s composition of EPA omega-3 level. Once in the blood, EPA is then available to be dispersed to various areas and tissues in the body, providing sought after health benefits of omega-3s such as heart, skin, inflammation, immune and mental health.”
Participants in the study were administered 660 mg of EPA from Coromega Big Squeeze, Coromega Omega-3 Squeeze, regular fish oil capsules or other emulsified fish oil liquids. Blood was sampled before administration, and at 2-, 4-, 8-, 24- and 48-hours after ingestion of the dietary supplements. Fish oil is traditionally difficult to digest, which makes it more challenging for the body to absorb omega-3s. However, the fish oil droplets in Coromega’s emulsified formulas are smaller and more bioavailable, making them easier to digest and absorb omega-3s, and allowing for faster passage into the digestive tract. The term bioavailability refers to the body’s ability to absorb a particular nutrient or medicine into the body that is ingested orally.
“Many fish oil brands promise high levels of omega-3s, but in reality most of the supplement simply passes through the body without complete absorption, leaving behind valuable health benefits for the consumer,” said Andrew Aussie, chief operating officer. “We’re elated to be able to give our consumers scientific reassurance that they’re not only taking a significant dose of omega-3s with Coromega supplements, but they’re also getting superior absorption to better achieve the health benefits they’re looking for.”
In addition to superior omega-3 absorption, both Coromega supplements also provide superior protection from UV and oxygen exposure. Fish oil soft gels can experience significant degradation and weakening of their omega-3 levels in real world situations that include light or air (oxygen) exposure. To prevent degradation of our omega-3 supplements, all Coromega’s emulsified supplements feature packaging that creates a multi-layer barrier minimizing UV and oxygen exposure providing a stable and safe EPA and DHA supplement.
Coromega Omega3 Squeeze is the brand’s cornerstone emulsified fish oil line.
