NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Datadog, the essential monitoring service for dynamic cloud environments, today announced it will be participating in the GitHub Student Developer Pack. Notable companies already participating include AWS Educate, DigitalOcean, Stripe and others in order to provide free cloud resources to students.
“We’re always looking for ways to give back to the student community,” said Ilan Rabinovitch, Director of Technical Community at Datadog. “Computer science programs tend to focus on the theory rather than the practicalities of delivering software to production. With our new student program, we aim to introduce students to operational concepts, so that they can hit the ground running as they enter the industry.”
All students who are 13 and older and enrolled in a degree or diploma granting course of study can sign up. For those already using GitHub with a student account, they’ve automatically been given access to the developer pack. Datadog will offer each student free infrastructure monitoring for up to 10 hosts, which equates to $180/month in monitoring services, allowing students to begin learning how to monitor their applications for mitigating downtime and maximizing performance.
"Understanding how to properly monitor an application is a crucial part of a computer science education,” said Carol Smith, GitHub Education program manager. "Adding Datadog to the Student Developer Pack will help people learning to code get a more well-rounded view of what shipping software involves."
