LAGUNA HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--24Hr HomeCare, a nationwide professional in-home care provider, recently collaborated with the multinational online transportation network company, Uber, to launch RideWith24™. RideWith24™ leverages Uber technology and 24Hr HomeCare’s personal touch concierge service to offer a safe form of transportation for mature adults. The program’s Uber driver-partners are thoroughly trained by the Open Doors Organization to accommodate folding wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility aids. In addition, its drivers pay special attention to transporting seniors discharged from hospitals through the doors of their home, to prevent falls and wandering.
RideWith24™ also does not require Age Well and its members to download the Uber application or own a smartphone. A simple call to 24Hr HomeCare with the person’s address of pick up and destination are the only logistical pieces of information required.
Age Well Senior Services, a nonprofit public benefit 501(c)(3) organization in Laguna Hills, will now be offering RideWith24™ services to its community of seniors. Age Well offers community-based services such as financial resources and legal assistance, medical transportation, health and wellness programs, and lunch programs to the Orange County community. One of Age Well’s most vital programs is Meals on Wheels, through which it delivers over 300,000 nutritious meals to seniors for whom obtaining adequate meals is difficult. The organization aims to enhance the quality of life for its constituents through implementing solutions to issues affecting the senior population.
Previously, Age Well’s transportation services solely covered non-emergency medical appointments and required advance notice. With this new partnership, Age Well has expanded its community’s transportation options beyond its appointment-only vehicles and taxi cabs. In comparison to taxis, RideWith24™ services are 80-90% more cost efficient, in addition to being more timely. “Age Well is always searching for the best resources and services for our community,” said Cheryl Wieland, Age Well’s Case Management and Health and Wellness Coordinator, “When we came across RideWith24™, we knew we had to find a way to integrate the program into our services, because there simply are no longer solutions that combine safety, efficiency, and affordability the way it does.”
RideWith24™ is the first transportation solution of its kind. The program is currently undergoing rapid expansion; 24Hr HomeCare has already partnered with UCLA Health, Sunrise Senior Living, Regents Point, WISE & Healthy Aging, and Avenidas Village to bring the solution to aging adults nationwide.
