MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With thousands of fans and pop culture enthusiasts in Memphis for Elvis™ Week celebrating the life and career of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll at Graceland®, music fans and collectors in Memphis and around the world participated on site and online in hopes of going home with a piece of Elvis history at the fifth “Auction at Graceland,” which brought over $730,000 today. Presented by Graceland Auctions, the auction was held at the Graceland Archive Studio. All of the items in the auction were from third-party collectors and none of the items included in the auction came from the treasured Graceland Archives.
The auction featured rare and unique artifacts expertly authenticated by Graceland Authenticated, including memorabilia from Elvis’ personal life, prized jewelry pieces and movie costumes. Highlights included the Elvis Presley Birth Record document from delivering physician, which also details the birth of his twin brother Jesse, sold for $87,500; a Black Star Sapphire ring worn by Elvis and gifted to his bodyguard Al Strada sold for $35,000 on an estimate of $10,000 - $15,000; the red and white western style pants created for Elvis in his first starring role the 1957 film “Loving You” went for $42,000 on an estimate of $15,00 to $20,000; a 1911 Indian Head Gold $2 ½ Coin and Diamond Ring, which Elvis wore in the 1970s and gifted to his tour promoter Tom Hulett sold for $40,000 on an estimate of $20,000 - $25,000; a black shirt, pants and gold metal belt ensemble, which Elvis wore circa 1969, sold for $37,500 on an estimate of $12,000 to $15,000; a blue dress shirt Elvis wore in the film “The Trouble With Girls (and how to get into it)” and was featured on the 1970 International Hotel menu topped an estimate of $8,000 to $10,000 and sold for $13,750; 24 of Elvis’ pool balls which included table chalk from Graceland with invoices and a signed check from his father Vernon sold for $15,000 on an estimate of $6,000 to $8,000; and an Elvis’ custom Karate Gi used to design the McCormick “Elvis Karate” Bourbon decanter and an original decanter sold for $25,000 on an estimate of $20,000 to $30,000;
