NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--FOX Business Network’s (FBN) John Stossel will host a Libertarian town hall with Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson his vice presidential running mate William Weld on Friday, August 26th, the network announced today. Stossel, who moderated the first national Libertarian debate earlier this year, will host the program entitled Stossel: Libertarian Town Hall, starting at 9PM/ET.
Throughout the town hall, Stossel will focus on the major differences between the Libertarian, Republican and Democratic platforms, as well as on economic, social and defense issues. The event will take place in front of a studio audience comprised of a cross-section of voters, who will join Stossel in posing questions to the candidates. In addition, Stossel will incorporate topics proposed through social media and from FBN reporters based in Times Square and Union Square in Manhattan interviewing passers-by.
Johnson and Weld earned the Libertarian Party nomination during the Libertarian National Convention at the end of May. Both former Republican Governors, Johnson served as the Governor of New Mexico from 1995 to 2005, while Weld served as Governor of Massachusetts from 1991-1997. This is Johnson’s second run for president under the Libertarian Party, he previously competed in the 2012 election where he received just under 1 percent of the popular vote.
