MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Verint® Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: VRNT) today announced a collaborative effort with Verint partner Informatica El Corte Ingles in the design and implementation of the new Centro Integrado de Segurança Pública (Integrated Center of Public Security, or CISP) in the city of Niterói, Brazil.
The city of Niterói is leveraging Verint’s video and situational awareness solutions in its state-of-the-art command center to provide 24/7 video and security monitoring. The technology is part of a broader initiative to deliver a heightened level of security intelligence and situational awareness. With this additional insight, federal, state and local security forces are able to collaborate even more effectively and share critical data to help keep the city and its citizens safe.
The city began working with Verint in April 2015, with the majority of implementation taking place this calendar year. To support its security initiatives, the city of Niterói is implementing the Verint Situational Awareness Platform™, Verint Enterprise Video Management Software™ (VMS) and Verint Surveillance Analytics™ to drive operations at its security command center. These security and situational awareness solutions work together, aiding responders and officials during investigations, while allowing the city to build a proactive approach to security efforts. The software’s Dispatch Manager™ functionality—a recent enhancement to Verint’s Situational Awareness Platform—also integrates to help reduce emergency response time, enhance incident management and advance end-to-end communications throughout the process.
“In recent years, the city of Niterói has faced a growing level of crime coupled with a dwindling police force,” says Mayor Rodrigo Neves. “The Verint technology that the city has invested in is designed to augment the work of active officers and streamline response to help ensure the safety of our citizens and the overall security of our region.”
With the Summer Olympics scheduled to kick off in Niterói’s sister city, Rio de Janeiro, in August 2016, enhancing security has become a priority for state and city officials across Brazil. To date, more than 200 third-party cameras have been deployed throughout Niterói, and there are plans to install a total of 600 more before the end of the year. With these, officials will be able to identify the license plates of vehicles entering and traveling throughout the city. The addition of alert buttons at schools and universities, the ferry station and other locations is also planned as part of the city’s security effort, enabling rapid security response if needed.
“As a pioneering force in the area of situational awareness, Verint solutions help enable smarter, more decisive security and safety programs for cities across the globe,” says Steve Weller, senior vice president and general manager, Verint Video and Situation Intelligence Solutions™. “Our situational awareness solutions will help drive new levels of actionable intelligence in Niterói and other cities, supporting officials in their ability to protect the area’s people, property and assets.”
