NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Travel search engine www.momondo.com revealed today that 9% of users don’t search for a specific destination, but rather search for flights to entire countries or regions. Many simply don’t know specifically where they want to travel, says momondo.
momondo’s new Anywhere Search tool reveals that almost one tenth of users search for flights to entire countries or regions instead of searching for specific airports. With Anywhere Search:
- Travelers can search for all airports in a region/state (e.g. California), country (e.g. Spain) or continent (e.g. Europe)
- Travelers can also search for “Anywhere” and let momondo inspire them
- “Anywhere” searches are filtered according to price or popularity depending on user-preference
“The share of people searching for entire regions is actually as large as those who search only for direct flights, which is something many travellers take for granted,” says Lasse Skole Hansen, spokesperson for momondo.
Hansen views the hesitance to choose a single airport as a natural part of flight price research, but according to new survey data from momondo, it is also as an indicator that travellers are more curious to explore the world than we may think. “Many think of travel as just relaxation, but according to our latest global study, an astounding 79 percent use travel to experience new places,” he said.
