NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ:SYMC), the global leader in cybersecurity, today announced that The SSL Store™ has become the first reseller of Symantec’s Encryption Everywhere program in the Americas. With over 7,000 resellers in over 120 countries, The SSL Store accelerates access to encryption and other advanced security options for millions of websites. Since announcing the Encryption Everywhere program in March of 2016, Symantec has partnered with some of the world’s largest distributors and hosting providers, including The SSL Store and 1&1 in Europe, to reach its goal of securing every legitimate website by 2018.
At this year’s HostingCon in New Orleans, Symantec is featuring some of the security champions who are taking back the internet from cybercriminals, including Symantec’s guest speaker, Chris Tarbell. Tarbell is the former FBI agent who broke up the Silk Road cybercrime network and arrested one of the most notorious hackers from “Anonymous,” Sabu. Symantec will be exhibiting at HostingCon July 24-27 in booth #407.
“In March, we set out to secure every legitimate website in the next 18 months with our Encryption Everywhere program,” said Michael Klieman, senior director of product for Symantec’s Website Security business. “As Mr. Tarbell reminds us, there are only two types of companies today – those who have been hacked and those that don’t know it yet. We want to flip that narrative. By working with a large distributor and strategic partner like The SSL Store, we can encrypt millions of websites at a time, making it harder for cybercriminals to hack the internet. That’s how we’ll begin to turn the tide from a world where cybercrime is the norm to cybersecurity as the de facto standard.”
Symantec is gaining more traction with Encryption Everywhere by enlisting web hosting providers and resellers, such as The SSL Store. While The SSL Store has been a long-time Symantec platinum partner, the company will now offer the full array of Encryption Everywhere options, from basic encryption to advanced security solutions to their web hosting partners. The SSL Store’s reach tends to include many small to medium-sized businesses and individual websites, a vastly underserved market when it comes to standard encryption and cybersecurity. The SSL Store is able to accelerate the adoption of Encryption Everywhere across millions of websites through their existing network of 7,000 other resellers plus their current network of customers.
“As the world’s first and foremost Website Security Specialist Partner, we’re one of the few organizations that has the technology, APIs, resources and seamless partnership with Symantec to quickly enable encryption across a lot of websites,” said Bill Grueninger, COO of The SSL Store. “We’re excited to further expand our partnership in order to offer easy encryption across any website of any size, such as an individual, small business or even an enterprise site through our channel.”
Michael Klieman will host an onstage Q&A with FBI cybercrime expert Chris Tarbell on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 4:00. Mr. Tarbell will speak about the importance of finding and closing the gaps in cybersecurity for every business.
