Greensmith Energy Expands Global Reach—Signs Agreement with Wärtsilä Energy Solutions to Deliver Energy Storage Systems Globally

HERNDON, Va.--()--Greensmith, one of the largest providers of energy storage software and integration services, announced today it has entered into a cooperation agreement with Wärtsilä. This enables Wärtsilä to deliver energy storage systems integrated with solar PV, and Wärtsilä Smart Power Generation power plants, jointly forming a hybrid energy solution. Greensmith will provide its GEMS software platform to provide the full control for the entire system. Wärtsilä, a global leader in multi-fuel power plants will leverage its significant installed base and provide global EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) and O&M (operation and maintenance) services to customers worldwide. As a combined market solution, Wärtsilä and Greensmith will provide sustainable, reliable, and affordable power — particularly in countries and regions with limited or small electrical grids.

The GEMS platform is the most widely-deployed energy storage software solution—enabling the most-advanced and proven energy storage systems in the world. With its robust yet flexible feature functionality, GEMS continues to set the standard for grid-scale, behind-the-meter, and micro grid storage control architecture.

"We selected Greensmith Energy as a technology partner due to their deep industry knowledge and expertise in delivering safe and reliable grid-scale energy storage and system integration solutions,” said Javier Cavada, President, Wärtsilä Energy Solutions. “We are excited to combine over 18 decades of industry experience with Greensmith technology to further broaden our offering capability by delivery of intelligent energy storage solutions together with our Smart Power Generation and Solar PV solutions.”

This partnership will allow Wärtsilä to extend its offering with Greensmith’s purpose-built control and optimization platform, combined with a unified set of technologies and designed from the ground up to set the standard for the intelligent energy storage and system integration solutions.

“We are honored to partner with a world-class organization like Wärtsilä as we continue to fulfill our vision to deploy the world’s most advanced energy storage solutions to every corner of the world,” said John Jung, President and CEO of Greensmith Energy. “2016 is proving to be pivotal for Greensmith as demonstrated by our partnership with Wärtsilä in addition to deploying over 100 megawatts of energy storage by the end of the year.”
