GAITHERSBURG, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Roboteam North America, a global leader in the design, development, and manufacture of cutting edge, user-oriented, multi-purpose, unmanned platforms and controllers for Defense, Law Enforcement and Public Safety missions, today announced the appointment of the Honorable Heidi Shyu as the newest member of its Advisory Board.

Having most recently served as Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology -- the Service’s senior most acquisition executive -- Ms. Shyu brings to Roboteam’s leadership team broad and deep experience in systems development and acquisition. She will play a key role in helping the unmanned platform company and its customers grapple with today's most pressing national security threats by leveraging the capabilities of Roboteam’s product and solution offerings.
In her government career, Ms. Shyu served for four years as a Presidential-nominated and Senate-confirmed senior DoD billet, supervising over 42,000 employees in thirteen acquisition directorates, in addition to her serving as principal deputy for the Army’s Acquisition operations, science adviser to the Army Secretary and as a senior research and development official for various Service offices. Prior to her work in the U.S. Army, Ms. Shyu held leadership positions within Raytheon Company’s space and airborne systems unit as Corporate VP for Technology & Research, Vice President of Technology Strategies and Technical Director of Space and Airborne Systems, among others. She also worked in various roles at Litton Industries, Northrop Grumman and Hughes Aircraft Company.
Ms. Shyu holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from the University of New Brunswick in Canada, a Master of Science Degree in Mathematics from the University of Toronto, Master of Science Degree in System Science (Electrical Engineering) from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and the Engineer Degree from UCLA. She is also a graduate of the UCLA Executive Management Course and the University of Chicago Business Leadership Program.
