FARNBOROUGH, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Parker Aerospace, a business segment of Parker Hannifin Corporation (NYSE:PH), the global leader in motion and control technologies, has been selected by Rolls-Royce to support the newest turbofan engine development program, the Rolls-Royce Trent 7000, exclusively for the Airbus A330neo platform.
The selection was based on Parker Aerospace’s long term relationship and successful experience with lowering risk by leveraging design pedigree from the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB and Trent 1000 turbofan engine for the Airbus A350 XWB and the Boeing 787. The bill of material that Parker Aerospace will provide includes: main engine oil pumps, oil tanks, the fuel nozzles and manifold, plus a portfolio of pneumatic control devices.
Parker fuel nozzles with low-NOx and low-CO fuel atomization technology are key to the development and operation of more environmentally friendly engines like the Trent 7000. The Trent 7000 turbofan engine test runs are planned to be completed in early 2017 and it is scheduled to enter service later that year. This expedited timeframe could not have been accomplished without Parker Aerospace’s prior experience in oil, fuel, and pneumatic systems.
“Parker’s long relationship with Rolls-Royce, working closely with the design and manufacture of the Trent family turbofan engines, has established us as a low risk and reliable partner,” noted Parker VP and General Manager Dave Overholt.
