SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--EY is pleased to announce the winners of the 30th annual EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Award in the Northern California Region. This group of leading entrepreneurs were selected by an independent judging panel made up of previous winners of the award, leading CEOs, private capital investors and other regional business leaders. The winners were revealed at a special gala on June 24 at The Fairmont San Jose.

These entrepreneurs join 30 years of winners in the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Hall of Fame. As a group, these entrepreneurs made a significant mark on innovation and the economy. The 2016 award recipients employ almost 6,000 people and are a major source of economic growth in Northern California, driving aggregate revenue of almost two and a half a billion dollars.

Also honored at the event were Samantha Faxon and Sharlyn McClendon, students in Hayward High School’s Business & Finance class, who founded Your City Gold Card, a reusable discount card that supports local businesses, employs teens and helps fundraise for schools. Faxon and McClendon received EY’s 2016 Youth Entrepreneur scholarship award for their business idea. Each will receive a $1,000 college scholarship which was awarded at the gala.
Regional award winners are eligible for consideration for the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Overall National Award winner, will be announced at the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year National Awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 19, 2016. The awards are the culminating event of the Strategic Growth Forum™, the nation’s most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies. The US Entrepreneur Of The Year Overall Award winner then moves on to compete for the World Entrepreneur Of The Year Award in Monaco, June 2017.
