CIRI Announces Brian Ector as New Board Chair and Elects New Directors

TORONTO--()--The Canadian Investor Relations Institute (CIRI), Canada’s national association representing investor relations professionals, announced the election of Brian Ector as Chair of the CIRI Board of Directors for a two-year term. Mr. Ector is Senior Vice President, Capital Markets and Public Affairs at Baytex Energy Corp. He succeeds Meghan Brown who will remain on the Board as Past Chair.

Mr. Ector was appointed Senior Vice President, Capital Markets and Public Affairs of Baytex Energy Corp. in May 2014. He joined Baytex in November 2009, holding the roles of Director of Investor Relations from November 2009 to June 2011, and Vice President, Investor Relations from June 2011 to May 2014. Prior to joining Baytex, Mr. Ector spent 15 years as a sell-side research analyst covering both energy trusts and exploration and production companies. He spent the last seven years as an analyst with Scotia Capital where he was consistently ranked as one of the top-rated analysts in Canada. Mr. Ector holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a concentration in finance from the University of Calgary and earned his CFA designation in 1996. He is a National Board member of CIRI as well as a member of NIRI, the CFA Institute and the Calgary CFA Society.

CIRI members also elected Sandra Daycock, Director, Investor Relations, Methanex Corporation, Nathalie Megann, Vice President, Investor Relations & Corporate Affairs, Chorus Aviation Inc. and Trent Stangl, Vice President, Marketing & Investor Relations, Crescent Point Energy Corp.

Ms. Daycock has held the role of Director, Investor Relations at Methanex Corporation since 2013. Prior to this role, she held various financial management roles with Methanex in the areas of tax reporting, transfer pricing, project financing, treasury forecasting, financial analysis and corporate development. Before joining Methanex, Ms. Daycock worked in the Credit Capital Markets division of CIBC World Markets, providing CIBC’s senior risk managers with credit analysis to support financial solutions for institutional clients. She has a Master of Arts in Economics from University of Manitoba and holds a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation. Ms. Daycock has been a CIRI member since 2013 and a member of CIRI’s BC Chapter Executive since 2014.

Ms. Megann has held the role of Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate Affairs at Chorus Aviation since 2015. Prior to this role, she was the Director of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations at Jazz Aviation. She began her career in the aviation industry in 1990 and has held leadership positions primarily in corporate communications, public affairs and marketing. Responsibility for investor relations was added to her portfolio in 2005. Ms. Megann has a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma in Public Administration, both from Dalhousie. She earned the CPIR designation in 2013 and has been a CIRI member since 2005.

Mr. Stangl has held the role of Senior Vice President, Investor Relations and Communications at Crescent Point Energy since January 2016. From 2008 until 2016, he was Vice President, Marketing and Investor Relations and from 2006 to 2008 he was Manager, Marketing and Investor Relations, both roles were with Crescent Point. Mr. Stangl has worked in the oil and gas industry since 1991, having held a variety of roles with companies such as Three Dimes Inc. and Wascana Energy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (with honours) in economics from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master of Arts degree, also in economics, from the University of Western Ontario. He has been a CIRI member since 2006.

John Cobb, (Retired) Vice President, Investor Relations & IT, Keyera Corp.; George Kesteven, Manager, Corporate & Investor Relations, Sterling Resources Ltd.; Lisa May, Corporate Consultant; and Rudy Sankovic, (Retired) Senior Vice President, Investor Relations, TD Bank Group are retiring from the Board. All of these individuals have dedicated their time volunteering for the organization and have made a tremendous contribution.
