OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Navis, a part of Cargotec Corporation, and provider of operational technologies and services that unlock greater performance and efficiency for the world’s leading terminal operators, today announced that Maher Terminals has completed upgrading its Navis N4 terminal operating system (TOS) from version N4 2.2 to N4 2.6. This upgrade allows Maher Terminals a more agile and efficient operating platform, and a stronger foundation to build out software solutions for terminal optimization challenges.
Maher Terminals, located at the Port of New York/New Jersey, is the largest marine container terminal complex in North America. Maher is ideally located in one of the most robust consumer markets in the world, and provides ample throughput capacity to afford shippers the opportunity to meet and exceed current and long term operating requirements.
“The N4 2.6 upgrade was a fundamental step forward for Maher Terminals. N4 provides the foundation on which we can build out our software functions, and we are already seeing improving response times. We can now look forward to improved system efficiencies within our operations, which will position us to more effectively handle volume,” said Laura Markham, Maher’s VP of IT. “We were also excited to be able to perform this significant upgrade with no disruption of services, which is a direct result of the many hours of planning and testing we put into this project.”
The upgrade to N4 2.6 provides a new level of system stability previously unavailable to Maher, and it is on this new software foundation that Maher plans to build out new terminal functionality and operational efficiencies.
Maher attributes the seamless implementation of these systems upgrades to the testing, planning and preparation done onsite. Navis support was present during the upgrade process, and helped to conduct thorough stress testing of the new system requirements prior to implementation.
“We are excited about the extended possibilities that this TOS upgrade allows Maher to focus on,” said Chuck Schneider, Navis VP and General Manager, Americas. “We are happy to partner with Maher to help them optimize their operations, and are on board for the long haul to help assure that Maher can continue to build terminal efficiencies upon the strong base of N4.”
