Ms. Hickman has a depth of knowledge and experience across multiple domains of healthcare. These include electronic health record implementations & optimizations, regulatory compliance, privacy and security best practices, quality and risk analysis to name a few. With over 20+ years of healthcare experience, Ms. Hickman has provided expertise and support to organizations by exceeding expectations and furthering vision through innovative problem solving and effective engagement of key stakeholders.
Prior to joining MiraMed, Ms. Hickman was a Senior Management Consultant with Culbert Healthcare Solutions in Massachusetts. During this period, she worked with several high profile clients such as MIT Medical Center, Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston Medical Center, Duke University Department of Surgery, Eastern Virginia Medical School, and Weill Cornell Medical School & New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Hickman has contributed to several notable projects, including co-authoring the BHS textbook, “Coding and Documentation Compliance for the ICD and DSM: A Comprehensive Guide for Clinicians,” which is slated for publication in Fall 2016 by Routledge, Taylor and Francis. Her other projects included ICD-10/DSM-5 conversion for Home of the Innocents (Louisville, KY), ICD-10 conversion for Diamond Healthcare Corporation (Richmond, VA), and on-going SME advising for various ICD-10/DSM-5 conversions.
Ms. Hickman is completing her Master’s in HIM this year and has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Statistics from Purdue University. She also holds numerous industry certifications, has delivered presentations, published 45 articles and trained almost 6,000 physicians on ICD-10 standards, and developed 44 specialty and subspecialty physician trainings for the medical industry and her clients.
