Salt Lake Comic Con Kicks Off Salt Lake Comic Con 2016 with Announcement of First 13 Guests

- Organizers have three new events planned for Salt Lake Comic Con 2016; announcement of these events to come later in the summer -

SALT LAKE CITY--()--Today, Salt Lake Comic Con (http://saltlakecomiccon.com/) announced details of Salt Lake Comic Con 2016, including its first round of celebrity attendees. Salt Lake Comic Con 2016 is September 1-3, 2016 at the Salt Palace Convention Center.

The first round of celebrity attendees includes:

  • William Shatner is best known as Captain James T. Kirk from Star Trek. Shatner also starred in TJ Hooker, Rescue 911, The Practice and Boston Legal. He is also a musician, author, director and celebrity pitchman.
  • Lou Ferrigno was the Hulk in the original Incredible Hulk TV series. The Hulk creator Stan Lee said Ferrigno was born to play the Hulk. Ferrigno was also in The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
  • Michael Rooker is best known for his role as Merle Dixon in The Walking Dead and Yondu Udonta in Guardians of the Galaxy. He’ll reprise his role of Yondu in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 2017.
  • Jim Beaver is a fan favorite as the gruff but tenderhearted Bobby Singer in Supernatural. He also appeared in the western dramas Justified and Deadwood, and the gothic horror Crimson Peak.
  • John Schneider is an American actor and country music singer. He is best known for his portrayal of Bo Duke in the 1970s–1980s American television series The Dukes of Hazzard and as Jonathan Kent from the TV series Smallville.
  • Tom Wopat is an American actor and singer. He first achieved fame as Luke Duke in the long-running 1979 television series The Dukes of Hazzard.
  • Catherine Bach is an American actress. She is known for playing Daisy Duke in the television series The Dukes of Hazzard.
  • Cliff Ming Si-Chen is an actor, podcaster, reality television personality and webmaster. He stars in the AMC reality series Comic Book Men. He also co-hosts the I Sell Comics! and Ming and Mike podcasts.
  • Bryan Johnson is an American comic book writer, podcaster, actor and television personality. He is best known by his local fame in New Jersey and appearances in Kevin Smith's New Jersey films as comic book fan Steve-Dave Pulasti.
  • Michael Zapcic stars in Comic Book Men and is described as having an "encyclopedic knowledge of every issue of every comic known to man," which he utilizes at Kevin Smith's Secret Stash. He co-hosts the podcast I Sell Comics! with Ming Chen.
  • Jason David Frank is an American actor, martial and mixed martial artist. He is known for his performance as Tommy Oliver aka the Green Ranger in Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.
  • Jeremy Bulloch is an English actor best known for his portrayal of infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett in the original Star Wars Trilogy. While never voicing the character, he appeared as Boba Fett in both The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and had a small role as an Imperial officer in Empire.
  • Victor Joseph "Vic" Mignogna is an American voice actor and musician best known as Captain James T. Kirk in the fan made series Star Trek Continues, and for providing numerous voices for Japanese anime series and video games.

Tickets to Salt Lake Comic Con 2016 are on sale now on the Salt Lake Comic Con website and are 15 percent off through the end of May 2016.

In addition to celebrity attendees, Salt Lake Comic Con listens to its fans and this year is improving upon existing events and adding new features and activities, including:

  • Kidcon 2.0. Kidcon is one of the most popular attractions at Salt Lake Comic Con. This year’s Kidcon will feature a number of new activities for kids of all ages and sizes. The additions will focus on super fandoms Star Wars and Harry Potter.
  • 5k run. Salt Lake Comic Con will host a 5K fun run one week before the main event. Proceeds from the run will be donated to a local charity.
  • Zombie Walk. Salt Lake Comic Con will sponsor the annual Zombie Walk for the fourth year in a row. The Zombie Walk allows fans of the zombie genre to invade the streets of Salt Lake City as their favorite zombie or survivor.
  • Cosplay Gladiators. Cosplay Gladiators will feature cosplayers competing in feats of strength, agility and endurance.
  • Share rewards is available again allowing fans to earn free tickets and photo ops by spreading the word about Salt Lake Comic Con.
  • The GrowTIX RFID ticketing system has numerous new features, including the ability to manage all products off the wristband, including Photo Ops, Autographs and even UTA transportation. An attendee’s credit card can be attached, QR code support for scanning with App, and even name, address card support so that vendors can ship simply by scanning the wristband.
  • There are three other events that Salt Lake Comic Con will announce as we get closer to the Con. They are being kept under tight wraps.
