LOS ANGELES--()--Today in Germany, the World’s Most Awarded Luxury Cruise Line™ took a significant next step in its luxury hospitality and lifestyle brand portfolio expansion. Edie Rodriguez, president and CEO of Crystal, presided over a shipyard steel cutting ceremony to begin production of the line’s first four new-build luxury river yachts. Crystal Debussy, Crystal Ravel, Crystal Mahler and Crystal Bach will embark on the rivers of Europe in summer 2017, each boasting sleek designs along with the plush amenities and grandeur for which Crystal ships are celebrated.

In the presence of Crystal parent company, Genting Hong Kong (GHK) Chairman and CEO Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, as well as Lloyd Werft Shipyard Managing Director Rüdiger Palletin and representatives from local German chambers, Rodriguez pressed the button that initiated the massive steel cutting machine to begin the river yachts’ construction.

“This seemingly simple act was an absolute thrill, as it represents a very important milestone in the growth of the Crystal brand,” says Rodriguez. “It was my honor to stand with the leaders of our wonderful parent company and the acclaimed Lloyd Werft Shipyard, and to enjoy the support of the local community leaders, as we continue the process of ushering in the new era of Crystal with Crystal River Cruises.”

The all-suite luxury river yachts, will surpass current and planned river boats or ships, and be the first in the industry to feature exceptional amenities and itinerary highlights including:

  • 250 square-foot guest suites with walk-in wardrobes, American king size beds and bathrooms with double vanities
  • Two 500 square-foot Penthouse Suites with added comforts and conveniences
  • Spacious public areas, including Palm Court with dance floor and glass domed roof and a well-appointed fitness center and spa

The four luxury river yachts represent part of Crystal’s entry into river cruising, as the line’s reimagined Crystal Mozart officially introduces the Crystal Experience® when the “Queen of European river ships” embarks on the Danube River this July.
