Milken Institute to debut new report detailing impact of Chinese investment in California

LOS ANGELES--()--ChinaWeek organizers are excited to welcome Governor Jerry Brown and a delegation of 130+ Chinese business executives and high-ranking officials to Los Angeles for the first California-China Business Summit on May 11th at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The delegates and guests will discuss immediate investment and collaboration opportunities with U.S. business leaders, as well as learn from panels of experts in cross-border trade and investment.

“With Chinese investment already reshaping the Los Angeles skyline, Hollywood blockbusters and the local job market, the event promises to be a landmark moment in the blossoming trade, investment and cultural relationship between China and California,” said Peter Shiao, Chairman of ChinaWeek.

At the summit’s morning session, Kevin Klowden, Executive Director of the California Center and Managing Economist at the Milken Institute, will release a new report titled “A Golden Opportunity with China: How California Can Become an Even Bigger Destination for Chinese Foreign Investment.”

“As California's third largest trading partner and the world's second largest economy, China plays an increasingly important role in California's economic future,” said Klowden. “In our upcoming report, we examine exactly where the relationship is strongest, and discuss how policy and business leaders can grow the relationship and bring further investment and jobs into California.”

Panel discussions will address topics such as “The Emerging ‘New Normal’ of US-China Commerce,” “Foreign Direct Investment into California and Accessing Chinese Capital,” and much more.
